Medical disclaimer

Please read this properly. It is short, and it matters more than the rest of the small print combined.

If this is an emergency

Chest pain, trouble breathing, weakness on one side, trouble speaking, heavy bleeding, serious injury, or thoughts of harming yourself: contact your local emergency service now.

This site is education, not care

Everything published here, guides, answers, summaries, downloads and one-to-one sessions, is provided for general health education. It is not medical advice for you personally, it cannot take account of your examination findings, your full history or your local context, and it is not a substitute for consulting a clinician who is licensed where you live and able to examine you.

No doctor: patient relationship

Reading this site does not create a doctor: patient relationship. Neither does booking a session. Sessions are educational consultations: Dr. Jannat Ilyas will explain, interpret and prepare you for a conversation with your own doctor. She will not diagnose you, will not prescribe, will not order or authorise tests, and will not issue medical certificates, fitness-to-work documents or any other legal medical record.

Why it is structured this way

Dr. Jannat Ilyas is a registered medical practitioner licensed internationally, outside the United States and Canada. Medical licensing is national: no doctor may lawfully practice medicine where they are not licensed, and any online service that suggests otherwise should be treated with suspicion. Rather than blur that line, this service sits deliberately and clearly on the education side of it.

Lab reports, scans and the tools on this site

Where a service explains your blood results, imaging report or discharge summary, that is an explanation of a document and nothing more. It is not a diagnosis, not a formal clinical interpretation, and not a second opinion of record. Imaging is never re-read: the radiologist’s written report is what gets explained. A result read without an examination and without your full history can only ever be partial, which is exactly why the output is a list of questions for your own doctor rather than a conclusion.

The Health Snapshot tool is the same thing in automated form. It sorts published thresholds against numbers you type in. It runs in your browser, stores nothing, knows nothing about you beyond what is on the screen, and is not a risk score, a screening test or a diagnosis.

Do not delay care

Never disregard professional medical advice, and never delay seeking it, because of something you read here or heard in a session. If your own doctor tells you something that contradicts this site, your own doctor has information about you that this site does not.

Medicines

No dosing information is published here, and no guide will tell you to start, stop, or change a prescribed medicine. Where a class of drug is described, it is to help you understand what your doctor may be considering and what to ask about: nothing more.

Limits of liability

Reasonable care is taken to keep everything here accurate and current, but medicine changes and no health information can be guaranteed complete or applicable to an individual. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AskDoc Health accepts no liability for any loss or harm arising from reliance on this material. Your use of the site means you accept this.

Not for children

Content here is written for adults. Sessions are not offered for children under 16, nor for pregnancy-specific care, both of which need a clinician who can follow you up properly.

In an emergency, do not use this site. Chest pain, trouble breathing, weakness on one side, trouble speaking, heavy bleeding, serious injury, or thoughts of harming yourself: contact your local emergency service now.
