Why do I feel full after just a few bites?
Answered by the AskDoc Medical Team · Medically reviewed under our Medical Director, MBBS
Occasional early fullness travels with reflux, gastritis, stress and fast eating, and often passes.
Persistent early satiety, weeks of it, is a symptom doctors take seriously, particularly with weight loss, vomiting, anemia or a family history of stomach cancer. Slowed stomach emptying in diabetes is another findable cause.
Do not silently shrink your meals for months to accommodate it. New, persistent early fullness deserves an appointment and usually a simple set of tests to find the reason.
